Class Rules, Guidelines, & Expectations
Objective
Biology-
* An understanding of how science works
* A foundation in biological concepts at the cellular, organismal, and population levels
* An appreciation of how biology is involved in your everyday life
Anatomy-
* The aim of this course is to provide the average to above-average student with the concepts presented in class.  This one-year course begins with a review of cell reproduction, biochemistry, and basic genetics.  The course then progresses to an in depth study of molecular genetics and human anatomy/physiology.

Rules
1.       Please read your handbook for a complete list of school rules.
2.     Be in your seat when the bell rings and remain seated throughout the period until you are dismissed by the teacher.
3.     Come to class prepared!  Each day you will need your textbook, a notebook, your binder, and something to write with.
4.     Be respectful of others.  This means that you should listen to your teacher, keep your hands/feet/objects to yourself, and raise your hand if you wish to talk.
5.     Lunchtime is for eating and drinking.  No food or drinks will be allowed in class.  The only exception to this is bottled water (bring this to class as you will not be allowed to leave class to get it).
6.     Use the restroom during passing periods.  Classroom time is used for instruction and learning.
7.     Be responsible.  You will be held accountable for yourself and your actions.

Grading Procedures
1.  Tests will be given at the end of each chapter or unit, and will be 50% of your grade.
2.  Daily work is the other 50% of your grade.  This includes labs, quizzes, homework, binders, and PARTICIPATION.
3.  Assignments are due during the first 10 minutes of class.  Assignments turned in after that time are considered late and will receive points off that assignment.
4.  Students can still turn in assignments the day after they are due for late points.  You will receive one letter grade lower for each consecutive day the assignment is late. After one week, I will not accept late work, and you will receive a zero for the assignment.
5.  If you know you are going to be absent, please make arrangements with me.  You will be given the same number of days to make up missed work as you were absent. Please check the white dry-erase board in my classroom or my website for a list of assignments.
6. Make sure you are taking notes.  I will have a notebook check at the end of each quarter for a grade.

Attendance Policy
1.  Attendance in this class is necessary for success.
2.  Make sure to read over the attendance policy in your handbook.
3.  If you are absent, you are responsible for making up the missed work, lecture notes, tests, etc.
4.  You will receive full credit on assignment/tests missed during an excused absence.
5.  You will receive no credit on assignments/tests missed during an unexcused absence.  You will receive 1/2 credit during a suspension.
6.  When you are absent on a test day or a day when an assignment is due, you will take the test and/or turn in the assignment on the day you return to school.  If you are absent during the test review day, you are still expected to take the test on the test day!
7.  If you are not in the classroom when the bell rings, you are considered tardy.
